From being a model to becoming a famous web series actor, Sushmita has come a long way. She is the youngest of three siblings, with two older sisters. Sushmita received her early education in Bihar, before relocating to Rajasthan to complete her senior secondary education. Afterwards, she went on to earn a degree in Philosophy from Indraprastha College for Women located in Delhi. She won the regional round in the Campus Princess Contest, which saw many contestants from Delhi. She qualified for the final round and moved to Mumbai for the same. She was among the top 6 contestants in the final round before getting eliminated. Following which, she decided to pursue a career in modelling, and participated in different modelling shows. Sushmita rose to fame in 2016 after winning the modelling reality show NDTV Good Times Kingfisher Supermodels Season 3. She was appreciated for her performance in the Disney+Hotstar web series Special Ops 1.5: The Himmat Story (2021), where she played Karishma, who honey-traps Indians, passing confidential information to the other side. She is also known for her roles in Khakee: The Bihar Chapter (2022). In Khakee: The Bihar Chapter, she played the role of a simple homemaker. She was also seen in The Making of Kingfisher Calendar 2020 (2021).
